Remember the fallen. This national event established in 2007 places wreaths on the graves in military cemeteries. The Paoli Memorial Grounds hosts a mass grave of 52 Continental soldiers from the Revolutionary War battle often referred to as the Paoli Massacre. Our sister tract of land to the east is owned by the Borough of Malvern. Called the Paoli Battlefield, it is the final resting place of a 53rd solider, found two weeks after the September 20-21, 1777 battle. His grave location remains unknown.
Wreaths Across America instructs its volunteers to remember our soldiers by saying their name. With a battle fought so long ago, we sadly don’t know everyone’s name, but we honor the regiments who served that rainy September evening and share the names we have uncovered through the ongoing research with the help of the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund and the Malvern Historical Commission.
Volunteers, please fill out this form no later than the Thursday before the national Wreaths Across America date. Scroll below the form for our event details.
